Dear ≪Title≫ ≪FirstName≫ ≪LastName≫:
We would like to introduce ourselves as a pro-life group from the Western Wisconsin area. We feel obligated by our faith to promote life among all our people and especially with the state and federal government in America. Abortion is still legal because elected officials do nothing to overturn Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. It is the responsibility of each Catholic to put a stop to this continuing tragedy and promote the culture of life as Pope John Paul II has so eloquently stated. By voting for pro-abortion politicians, we become remote and/or formal cooperators in these preborn babies’ deaths and could be committing a mortal sin (http: //priestsforlife.org/magisterium/gracida.htm).
There are many pro-life organizations, such as National Right to Life, that provide legislative and candidates' views on the right to life. Our Catholic responsibilities in supporting pro-life candidates are crucial. Our pro-life candidates have difficulties promoting their pro-life position with so many anti-life, culture of death agendas attacking them from all sides. Our “Vote for Life First” group would very much like to work with your ideas and suggestions to put together a program to elect enough legislators at the state and federal level to pass into law a Constitutional Amendment to abolish these killings. This implementation and promotion can be used in all future elections. The Fifth Commandment demands that we become active in supporting the laws of God and Church. Bishops should promote the Gospel of Life by telling their priests their parishioners could be an accessory to the crime of murder if they vote for pro-abortion candidates--a serious sin requiring the sacrament of confession.
Will
you join your brother Bishops and make the first Sunday of each month
" Life Sunday" to incorporate our voting responsibilities into the
homily until we have a Constitutional amendment banning these killings? Let's put the moral issue back above the
dollar issue. Keeping our heads in the
sand for the last 27 years has not made abortion go away. Our duties as Catholic Christians are the
strongest to the most helpless of God’s people. Without “life”, no other liberties guaranteed by the Declaration
of Independence matter--specifically “liberty and the pursuit of
happiness.” Please join us in our
e-mail campaign by contacting Pat O'Malley at pomalley@pressenter.com or Darla Meyers at
meyersdm@spacestar.net. As a family of
God's people, not an established organization, we have no concerns about
tax-exempt issues.
If you would consider publicizing our “Vote for Life First” e-mail campaign in any of your publications, we would surely be able to spread the word of love for our preborn babies. Our e-mail “Vote for Life First” campaign includes people of all denominations and even people who don’t consider themselves religious. By encouraging all people of God to put life before all other material matters in the voting booth, we, as God’s people, can stop human embryonic stem cell research, human cloning, and all other abortion-related evils.
